Call for Posters

Turrialba, Costa Rica, September 25-27, 2019

CARLA 2019 offers the opportunity to submit short papers for its poster session. Posters offer the opportunity to present research work in progress to experts in the field and receive valuable feedback. The session also encourages networking and discussion among peers, which may lead to possible collaborative efforts in the region.
Submitted works will be judged based on their originality, methodological quality and obtained preliminary results.
Furthermore, accepted works will be included in a special volume of the journal Tecnología en Marcha, which is indexed in Scielo and in the Clarivate Analytics Emerging Sources Citation Index.
Please let the Latin American HPC community know about your work and take part of a vibrant and growing academic network

CARLA 2019 will feature two exciting tracks: HPC (High Performance Computing) and BIP(BioInspired Processing). The later is a new addition to the regular CARLA program and focuses on the synergies between Biological Sciences and Computer Science. These synergies are of course bidirectional. On one hand, bioinspired computing applies computational paradigms inspired in Biological Sciences (e.g., genetic algorithms, cellular automata, neural networks) to solve a large variety of problems in multiple domains. On the other hand, Computer Science has been applied successfully and is now considered indispensable to solve many biological problems. In both cases, the complexity of biological systems often requires the use of of HPC to tackle realistic problems where both the amount of data and the number of relationships among data elements could be monumental. The conference program includes keynote and invited talks from academy and industry, full-paper and poster sessions (presenting both mature work and new ideas in research), workshops, tutorials, discussion spaces, and more.

Submission Guidelines

  • Poster submissions must be in English, the only official language of the conference.

  • Posters should be written as short papers and should not exceed 5 pages (including references).

  • They must be formatted in MSWord, using the Tecnología en Marcha style:

  • All submitted research posters will be peer-reviewed by at least 2 reviewers.

  • Only contributions that are not submitted elsewhere or currently under review will be considered.

  • Only accepted contributions that are presented at the conference will be included in the proceedings. Remote presentations will not be allowed.

  • Poster submission is handled electronically with Springer’s Online Conference System:

  • Posters should be uploaded as PDF files.

  • All posters accepted for publication will be included in a special edition of Tecnología en Marcha, a publication indexed in Scielo.
